The Haines family have been building and testing boats in Australia for 45 years. Brother John and Gary forged an international reputation for themselves in the boot and ski racing arena. In 1960 the brothers applied this experience into designing and building boats under the "Haines Hunter" banner. To finance expansion, a majority share holding was sold to Asian interests in the early 1970's. This arrangement was a dreadful mistake and by 1980, following a bitter dispute which simmered for many years, they were forced out onto the street.
Not being one to roll over, John Haines with his wife Alida and 2 sons, John (Jnr) and Greg again started designing and building. This time under the "Haines Signature" brand. In 1984 "Hainsey" as he is universally known, displayed the first of the new "Haines Signature" boats at the Sydney Boat Show. It was an overnight sensation, dealers who John had worked with for 20 years got right in behind the new Haines Signature brand and put through enough orders to kick off the fledgling business. The rest is history and the "Haines Signature" brand has grown into the largest manufacturer of trailerable fibreglass boats in Australia.
Make no Mistake, there is only one Haines family designing and building fibreglass boats and they're "Haines Signatures".
